What's included in each session?
A complete full body lymphatic drainage session using the Leduc method. Your therapist works through the entire body with slow, deliberate rhythmic movements, systematically guiding lymph fluid toward the lymph nodes to support drainage, reduce fluid retention and promote detoxification. Ideal for tired or heavy legs, general puffiness, post-travel fatigue or anyone who simply wants to feel lighter and more balanced.
The full body lymphatic drainage experience with the addition of facial lymphatic drainage. After working through the entire body, your therapist continues with a dedicated facial drainage sequence that reduces puffiness around the eyes and jaw, relieves facial congestion and leaves the skin looking visibly clearer and less swollen. The most complete lymphatic drainage treatment we offer, particularly popular after long-haul travel, before or after a special event, or as part of a post-surgical recovery plan.
The Leduc Method
Developed by Belgian physiotherapist Albert Leduc, the Leduc method is a precise and clinically validated approach to manual lymphatic drainage. It uses a specific sequence of hand movements, reabsorption techniques and call-up movements to systematically activate the lymphatic vessels and guide fluid toward the nearest lymph node clusters.
Unlike a regular massage, lymphatic drainage does not work on muscles or deep tissue. The lymphatic vessels lie just beneath the surface of the skin, which is why the pressure used is deliberately very gentle. Too much pressure compresses the vessels and blocks flow rather than encouraging it.
The Leduc method ensures every movement is purposeful, following the anatomical pathways of the lymphatic system for maximum effect.
day-spa that breathes luxury and warmth
What lymphatic drainage can help with
- Fluid retention and general puffiness
- Swollen, tired or heavy legs
- A puffy or congested face
- Post-travel fatigue and jet lag
- Bloating and a sluggish digestive system
- Post-surgical swelling and recovery
- Weakened immunity and frequent illness
- Skin congestion and dullness
- Stress and an overloaded nervous system
- General fatigue and a feeling of heaviness
Safe during pregnancy
Lymphatic drainage is one of the few massage treatments that is safe from the very first weeks of pregnancy, including the first trimester. The pressure is extremely gentle and does not stimulate contractions or place any strain on the body. It is particularly beneficial in early pregnancy for relieving bloating, fluid retention, swollen ankles and the general heaviness many women experience in the first weeks.
If you are under 13 weeks pregnant and would like a massage treatment, lymphatic drainage is an excellent and safe option. We still recommend consulting your doctor or midwife before booking, particularly if you have any medical concerns or a high-risk pregnancy.
Who this treatment is not suitable for
- Persons with an active infection or inflammation in the treated area
- Persons with kidney or heart problems
- Persons with blood clots or a history of deep vein thrombosis
- Persons with active cancer or undergoing cancer treatment, without medical clearance
Post-surgical recovery
Lymphatic drainage is widely recommended as part of post-surgical recovery. Surgery causes trauma to the tissue, which triggers an inflammatory response and leads to swelling, bruising and fluid accumulation around the treated area. Manual lymphatic drainage helps move this excess fluid away from the site, speeds up the body's natural healing process and can significantly reduce recovery time.
We recommend waiting at least 4 to 6 weeks after surgery before booking a lymphatic drainage session, or longer depending on the procedure and your surgeon's advice. For more extensive procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck or breast surgery, we suggest waiting a minimum of 6 weeks and always following your surgeon's specific clearance.
If you are unsure, please consult your doctor before booking and let us know about your procedure when you arrive so your therapist can adapt the treatment accordingly.

FAQ
What is a Lymphatic Drainage Massage?
It is a specialised massage technique that uses very gentle, rhythmic movements to stimulate the lymphatic system and guide excess fluid, toxins and waste products toward the lymph nodes for elimination. At Amilda we use the Leduc method, a clinically recognised approach to manual lymphatic drainage.
Why is the pressure so soft?
The lymphatic vessels lie just beneath the surface of the skin. Very gentle pressure is essential to activate them without compressing or blocking flow. The Leduc method uses precise, light hand movements that follow the anatomical pathways of the lymphatic system for maximum effectiveness. Firmer pressure would actually reduce the results.
What is the difference between the 50 and 80-minute sessions?
The 50-minute session covers the full body without the face.
The 80-minute session covers the full body and includes a dedicated facial lymphatic drainage sequence that reduces puffiness, relieves congestion and leaves the skin looking visibly clearer.
Is lymphatic drainage safe during pregnancy?
Yes, it is one of the safest massage treatments available during pregnancy, including during the first trimester. The pressure is extremely gentle and does not stimulate contractions. It is particularly effective for bloating, fluid retention and swollen ankles in early pregnancy. We still recommend consulting your doctor or midwife before booking.
Is this massage suitable after surgery?
Yes, lymphatic drainage is widely recommended for post-surgical recovery. We suggest waiting at least 4 to 6 weeks after minor procedures and a minimum of 6 weeks after more extensive surgery such as liposuction, tummy tuck or breast surgery. Always follow your surgeon's specific advice and let your therapist know about your procedure when you arrive.
How often should I come?
For a specific concern such as post-surgical recovery or persistent fluid retention, we recommend a course of sessions, ideally weekly or twice weekly in the initial phase, followed by monthly maintenance treatments. For general wellness and prevention, a monthly session is ideal.
Can I combine lymphatic drainage with other treatments?
Yes, lymphatic drainage can be combined with several treatments. Pair it with a facial for a any wellness experience, as the drainage helps reduce puffiness and prepares the skin beautifully.
However, combining it with a Deep Tissue massage is generally not recommended in the same session. Deep tissue works intensely on muscle tension and can cause temporary inflammation in the tissue, while lymphatic drainage uses very gentle, specific techniques to stimulate fluid movement. The two approaches work in opposite directions in terms of pressure and intention, and combining them could reduce the effectiveness of both.
A better approach would be to:
- Book a Deep Tissue massage when your main goal is muscle tension and pain relief
- Book a Lymphatic Drainage session on a separate day, when your focus is on detox, reducing swelling, or boosting circulation
- Or combine lymphatic drainage with a relaxing massage or facial for a gentler, more holistic experiences
What should I do before my treatment?
Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to relax and complete a short intake form. Drink plenty of water beforehand and avoid heavy meals just before your session.
What should I do after my treatment?
Drink plenty of water to support the ongoing drainage process. Rest if possible, avoid alcohol and strenuous activity for the remainder of the day. You may need to urinate more frequently after the session, which is a normal and positive sign that the lymphatic system has been activated.

What a wonderful experience from start to finish! My girlfriend and I enjoyed an amazing couples massage, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. A special thank you to Elena and Seiko, who were both incredibly professional, attentive and made us feel completely at ease. What made the experience even more memorable was the lovely surprise afterwards: a beautifully presented selection of champagne, fresh fruit, delicious treats, tea and coffee. We hadn’t requested any of this, which made the thoughtful gesture even more special! It’s these little touches and genuine hospitality that really set a place apart. We left feeling completely relaxed, pampered and genuinely appreciated as guests. Highly recommended! We’ll definitely be back!+1Posted on Google![]()

Amilda’s spa is an oasis of care and good energy in the heart of one the most beautiful neighbourhoods in The Hague. I could not recommend the treatments and therapists there enough! One of my favourite combinations is the steam room and face massage with Elena; but also try the deep tissue and facial combo with Carol, Seiko, Nikkie, Annie…; Botox with Dr Bos — just amazing! You won’t be sorry! 🤗Posted on Google![]()

Dure behandeling! Posted on Google![]()
