The Amilda Wellness Guide

What is lymphatic drainage massage and what is it good for?

Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle massage technique that helps the lymphatic system clear excess fluid and waste. At Amilda we use the Leduc method, a clinically recognised technique for manual lymphatic drainage, developed by the Belgian physiotherapist Albert Leduc. Very gentle, rhythmic movements guide lymphatic fluid along the body's natural pathways towards the lymph nodes. Because the lymphatic vessels lie just beneath the skin, the pressure is deliberately very light: too much pressure would actually restrict the flow.

The treatment feels almost feather-light, yet has a clearly noticeable effect. It is especially helpful for fluid retention and swelling, tired or heavy legs, a puffy face, fatigue after travel or jet lag, bloating and recovery after surgery. Most guests feel lighter, less swollen and clearer-headed within a few hours.

Lymphatic drainage is also safe during pregnancy, from the first trimester onwards. It is not suitable without medical approval if you have an active infection, kidney or heart problems, thrombosis or are undergoing cancer treatment. After surgery we advise waiting at least 4 to 6 weeks. At Amilda you can choose a 50 or 80-minute session, with the longer session also including facial lymphatic drainage.
