It is completely normal to notice something afterwards, and none of it is a sign that something went wrong. Feeling emotional is common: massage works on the nervous system as well as the muscles, and when the body releases physical tension that has been held for a long time, emotions stored alongside that tension can surface too. You might feel unexpectedly tearful, deeply calm, or simply more open than usual, and our therapists hold a safe, unhurried space for whatever comes up. Feeling tired or sleepy is also normal: your parasympathetic nervous system, the part responsible for rest and recovery, becomes more active during a massage, and your body shifts from alertness into repair, which takes energy.
If you fall asleep during your session, that is a compliment, it means your nervous system fully relaxed and your body felt safe enough to let go completely, and our therapists will wake you gently at the end, with time to return to yourself before you get up. And feeling thirsty afterwards is a good sign too, massage increases circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system, a process that uses water, so after every session we offer you a choice of tea, coffee or water, and recommend continuing to drink throughout the day.
